I'm getting fed up with the drama going on around here. I don't know, it just makes me really frustrated. I'm especially sick of the whole "sparkledog" shit. I can't believe all the drama that gets started over colorful dogs. Can you tell me what good it does to go and insult someone's style preference? I've seen people give up their art because of people mocking and poking fun at certain details in their art.
Wow you're reaaal hilarious. I hear a lot of people say "I did it for the lulz" God get a life.

Yes, I'll admit, I've come across some canine characters that are a little overdone. (oh and omg, the same characters with the rainbow legwarmers, goggles, and a couple of glowsticks, theres just too many of those) But what good would it do for me to go and comment "OMG YOUR CHARACTER..GEEZ. WTF IS UP WITH ALL THOSE RAINBOW COLORS? WHY DID YOU PUT SO MANY ACCESSORIES? WHY? UGH THIS IS HORRIBLE!! WASH OFF THAT RAINBOW!!"
You know what? Let people draw what makes them happy. I'm not going to go and bash a character that someone is probably proud of in their mind.

Okay, and look, I'm sick of the huge-boobs-bigger-than-my-head anime art, the overly-done KH fanart yaoi shit, etc, etc, but I don't go and bash the heck out of it. What good does it do? Its not going to keep people from liking it. People are going to create what they like and what they want.

You know what bothers me the most? People that become cowards about their art. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it. Like, when people "give in" to the haters. Its like they get attacked by someone, and then all of a sudden, they're against the thing that the hater is putting down. Lets see if I can set up a scenario.
So say someone goes and posts a journal about how ridiculous "sparkledogs" are. An artist who nornally draws colorful canines goes and reads this journal. Suddenly, they take a step back and go "Oh yeah, yeah, "sparkledogs" are ridiculous. I don't usually draw stuff like that anymore. I'm going to try to lean towards more simple designs." And they go and totally change their style just because of what some dumbass says. Conformity sucks.

Just draw what you love.

If you feel comfortable drawing something, draw it. Don't let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about what you create.

end.

Second.

If you have a problem with something, don't look at it, /b/tards. It's not freaking hurting you. Hell, the topic is just completely absurd, because "sparkledogs" can't possibly be considered offensive in any way, shape or form. People need to sprout a life.
Very well said :)

It's very saddening when someone feels forced away from a style, genre, subject, etc. they enjoy doing just to please anonymous online viewers. No artist should be made to feel that their creativity and passion is a waste, or being misused. I can't even imagine the kick to the gut that must feel like.

Yes, things are overdone. Yes, some people should grow and learn and branch into their own very special brand of art instead of drawing Lion King, anime fanart, or what not. However, they need to be encouraged, not embarassed, into that transition. Everyone has to start SOMEWHERE (shit, I started out copying How to Draw Animals books and pausing my Sailor Moon DVDs to copy the screenshots, for example), and it's a mistake to make someone feel ashamed for their beginnings
I agree with you, my dear
